Bio
Honourable Gary Rutty is the Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism and Trade Development, and he is the elected representative for the constituency of George Town South.
Minister Rutty has over 35 years of business experience gained in the restaurant and hospitality industries in the Cayman Islands.
Prior to being elected, Minister Rutty’s public service included roles on the Work Permit Board, and the Central Tenders Committee, and he is a past Director of the Cayman Islands Merchant Association and the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce.
Known for being a committed advocate for youth and community development, Minister Rutty has keenly supported Cayman’s children through sponsorships, sports programs and scholarships. He is a founding member of the YMCA of the Cayman Islands and he actively participates in a range of youth-centred initiatives, including the Flag Football League, Little League, and Elite FC Football Club.
Minister Rutty is a multi-generational Caymanian and his life’s work, entrepreneurial journey and wide breadth of experience underscore his steadfast dedication to building a stronger Cayman Islands for future generations.
Gary Rutty and his wife Angel, are the parents of three children: Hannah, Gannon, and Raegan.
