Bio
Hon. Nickolas DaCosta was appointed Minister for District Administration and Home Affairs in May 2025. He serves as the elected representative for the Cayman Brac West and Little Cayman constituency and is a Justice of the Peace and Notary Public for the Cayman Islands.
Minister DaCosta brings over 15 years of leadership and operational experience in both the public and private sectors. His background includes senior roles in business management, financial control, and communications. Prior to his election to Parliament, he served as Caucus Secretary and Content and Communications Coordinator in the Office of the Premier, as well as Property and General Manager for a leading resort on Seven Mile Beach. He has also held positions in the utilities and construction sectors and has served on several public and private boards.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with concentrations in International Business and Management, and a Master’s degree in Public Administration.
As Minister, Mr. DaCosta is responsible for the oversight of key areas including district administration, emergency services, public safety, border security and postal services. He is committed to strengthening service delivery across the Cayman Islands, with a particular focus on the Sister Islands. Maintaining and enhancing national safety and security which contributes immensely to the Cayman Islands’ renowned position as a top jurisdiction of choice, is another of Mr. DaCosta’s key priorities.
His leadership is guided by principles of good governance, accountability, accessibility, and community development. Underpinned by his ‘people first’ philosophy, Minister DaCosta aims to ensure that policy decisions and initiatives have a meaningful and sustainable impact for all residents of the Cayman Islands.
An active community member, Minister DaCosta is a long-serving member of the Lions Club of Cayman Brac and a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow. He has represented the Cayman Islands internationally as Past District Governor for Lions Clubs International District 60B, encompassing the wider Caribbean region.
Outside of his official duties, he is an accomplished musician and regularly contributes to church services and community events, locally and abroad, including his home church, Stake Bay Baptist Church.
Minister DaCosta divides his time across Cayman Brac and Grand Cayman with his wife, Aimée, and their two children, Simon and Eden, who inspire his dedication to serving the people of the Cayman Islands.
