Our team is looking to hire an experienced, knowledgeable and hardworking individual to join our company. General Requirements Must be able to stand on your feet for long periods of time. Must be able to lift 30lbs or more. Pastry/baking background required. Must be able to think on your feet, be proactive, and solve problems as they come along. Maintaining cleanliness. Overview: As baker, you are responsible for monitoring and prepping all items needed for production. Bakers work directly with the Head Pastry Chef; they receive all recipes and quantities from the Pastry Chef each week. Bakers must be extremely organised and familiar with working with large batch recipes. Key Job Responsibilities: Making various types of dough. Preparing various fillings, toppings and glazes. Dipping and finishing various pastries. Ensuring cleanliness of work areas not limited to tables, shelves, equipment, walls and floors. Ensuring maintenance of equipment used daily and communicating malfunctions to Pastry Chef/management immediately. Folding bakery boxes, packaging walk-in and pre-orders. Restocking pastry case and fridges. Helping receive/put away any and all requisitions and deliveries. Integrity to work alone with minimal supervision once shown or given a task. Performing an opening or closing inventory as needed to be sent to the Pastry Chef for ordering purposes. Applicant Requirements: Previous professional pastry experience and ability to work with dough is required. Must have knowledge of food handling, health and safety. Have a thorough understanding of various pastry techniques such as mixing methods, scaling, cold and hot cooking applications, making pastry cream, fillings and glazes. Ability to work a variety of shifts – including early mornings, holidays and weekends. Must have excellent time management skills, be able to work quickly and efficiently and stand on your feet for long periods of time (up to 10 hours). Must have an extreme attention to detail. Ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Must be a team-player, have a positive attitude and kind demeanor. CI driver’s license is preferred but not required.
