Purpose of the role The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Knowledge Management (KM) Department in maintaining and providing knowledge management resources to support both the Cayman legal and global legal businesses. Key Responsibilities • Maintain resources on the firm's KM intranet, including updating precedents, practice notes and other guidance and legal and regulatory resources; • Dissemination of Cayman Islands Gazettes and local industry knowledge, current legal awareness and related global legislative and regulatory developments to the appropriate stakeholders, ensuring this is saved in the relevant databases; • Coordinate regular and ad hoc knowhow meetings including the preparation of agendas, minutes, action lists and organising speakers; • Coordinate and present induction training to fee earners, including Partners and support staff on knowledge management resources, systems and procedures; • Manage the internal Legal Development Programme for the Cayman office including scheduling events and co-ordinating the upload of materials and recordings to the firm's training databases; • Collaborate with the global KM team (pan-jurisdiction) to support an alignment in the KM support model across the firm, working on joint initiatives where necessary; • Liaise with the Jersey KM team on the firm's local electronic and physical library; • Maintain an effective system for the collection of know-how including managing precedent pipelines and developing strong relations with the Partners and fee-earners and assessing and capturing KM content from client transactions; • Provide assistance to fee earners and support staff regarding various legal and regulatory issues; • Assist with the publication of client briefing notes; • Identify, review and prepare documents for automated document assembly; • Enthusiasm and actively contributing to a culture of valuing and leveraging the firm's knowledge. Competencies • Minimum of 3 years' work experience as a Legal Assistant with sound experience in knowledge management; • Must possess a recognized Paralegal/Legal Assistant qualification or other related professional qualification; • Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills; • Ability to perform legal research; • Excellent time management skills with experience in working to tight reporting deadlines; • Ability to ensure self-development to remain current in knowledge management affairs; • Excellent organizational skills and a proven ability to work effectively on own initiative; • A high level of proficiency with IT business software packages, including all Microsoft applications; • Experience in using Filesite, SharePoint and Contract Express software is advantageous; • Ability to adhere to the highest level of confidentiality at all times.
