Key Responsibilities: *Vehicle Operation: - Operate heavy-duty trucks, including tractor-trailers, container trucks, and other large vehicles, primarily within the Cayman Islands. - Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulatory standards. - Utilize specialized equipment, such as container handlers and loading mechanisms, to facilitate the movement of customs-controlled goods. *Cargo Management: -Transport goods and materials to and from customs facilities, ports, warehouses, and other designated locations. - Load, secure, and unload cargo, ensuring all items are handled in accordance with customs and agency protocols. - Handle hazardous or restricted materials, following all safety and regulatory guidelines for such items. *Customs Compliance: -Assist in the proper documentation and verification of cargo being transported, ensuring all paperwork and customs declarations are accurate and complete. -Collaborate with customs officers to facilitate inspections and clearances as required. -Stay updated on current customs regulations and procedures to ensure compliance during the transportation of goods. *Route and Schedule Management: - Plan and adhere to efficient routes for the transportation of goods, considering factors such as traffic, weather conditions, and customs checkpoints. -Maintain strict adherence to delivery schedules, ensuring timely and secure delivery of goods to their destination. - Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customs officials to provide updates on transportation status and resolve any issues. *Safety and Security: -Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safe transport of goods, especially those under customs control. - Implement security measures to protect cargo from theft, damage, or tampering. -Participate in safety training and emergency drills as mandated by CICA. *Vehicle Maintenance: -Perform routine maintenance checks and minor repairs on the vehicle, such as oil changes, brake adjustments, and tire inspections. -Report any significant mechanical issues or damage to the vehicle and coordinate with maintenance personnel for repairs. *Customer Service: -Provide professional and courteous service to clients, customs officials, and other stakeholders during the transport of goods. -Address any questions or concerns regarding delivery and customs processes. -Handle and process customer documentation accurately, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. *Record Keeping: -Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, mileage, cargo details, and delivery times. -Complete and submit all required documentation, including customs forms, delivery receipts, and vehicle inspection reports, promptly and accurately. Qualifications: -Valid Cayman Islands Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for operating heavy-duty vehicles. -Proven experience as a truck driver, preferably with experience in customs-related transportation or handling of sensitive cargo. -Knowledge of Cayman Islands transportation regulations and customs procedures. -Ability to manage long hours and varying schedules, including potential overnight or extended trips. -Strong organizational and time management skills. -Good physical health and the ability to lift and handle heavy cargo as needed. -Basic mechanical skills for vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting. *Working Conditions: -Extensive travel within the Cayman Islands, with potential exposure to various weather conditions and environments. -Regular interaction with customs officials, requiring strict adherence to regulations and protocols. -Physical demands may include lifting, moving, and securing heavy cargo. -Flexible work hours, including possible night shifts and weekends, to meet delivery schedules and operational needs.
