No. My eID is not an international travel document.

It can be used for travel between Grand Cayman, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac, but it cannot be used for travel outside of the Cayman Islands.

To stay updated, visit https://myeid.egov.ky for the latest information

All Caymanians are eligible to apply for My eID.

You can still apply for the Cayman Islands Identification Card: My eID.

If your Caymanian status has not yet been formally acknowledged or confirmed by WORC, you have two options:

Option 1: Obtain Acknowledgement from WORC (Recommended)

It is beneficial to have your Caymanian status formally recorded so it can be printed on your My eID card. You can complete the C27 – Right to be Caymanian by Right, by Entitlement, or Continuation form at: 👉 https://www.worc.ky/forms

Your My eID application can be placed on hold while you complete this process.

For enquiries, contact WORC:

Email: worc@gov.ky
Phone: (345) 945-9672

Option 2: Proceed Without Immigration Status Printed

You may choose to proceed without immigration status printed on the card. Your card will still include all identity and digital features, including:

  • Signing in to Government services using eServices Sign In with your card and PIN
  • Applying a legally recognised digital signature

If your status is later recorded by WORC, you may apply to have your My eID card reissued.

Work permit holders cannot apply for My eID in the current issuance phase.

However, please feel free to submit your application at https://myeid.egov.ky to stay informed and receive updates as we expand the issuance phase.

Yes. My eID can be used as official proof of your Cayman immigration status where it is printed on the card.

It provides a convenient alternative to carrying paper documents and can be used in person or, where supported, digitally through My Info by email or using the card’s QR code.

The Cayman Islands Identification Card: My eID is a Government-issued photo ID that proves identity and Cayman immigration status in a single card.

For older residents who may not have multiple documents readily available, this reduces the need to carry paper records and makes it easier to access pensions, banking, healthcare and other services.

Assistance is available at the Cayman Islands Identification Card customer centre for those who need help with the application process.

Yes. My eID is built using international standards for identification cards and digital certificates, and uses technologies that have been implemented by Governments around the world for many years.

Security features include PIN protection, with the card locking after multiple incorrect attempts, helping to prevent unauthorised use.

With the physical ID card, you decide who sees the information printed on it by choosing when to present your card.

By default, no information is shared digitally. If someone scans the QR code on your card, they will see a message that you have chosen not to share your information.

As the cardholder, you control what is shared by toggling on or off the information in My Info, whether sharing by email or through the QR code on your card*.

You can also view access to your data in the Identification Register and My Info Portal by signing in at https://myeid.egov.ky, selecting View My Info, then Accesses to My Info.

Government departments may access information stored in the Identification Register only where they have a lawful basis under the Cayman Islands Identification Card Act and the Identification Register Act. The Identification Register contains core identity information, including:

  • Surname and given names
  • Date of birth
  • Sex
  • Nationality
  • Immigration status
  • Photograph
  • Signature
  • Identification number

Access is governed by legislation and restricted to authorised purposes only.

* Guidance on how to use the sharing feature will be published soon.

Your personal information is protected through secure systems and controlled access.

To view information in the My Info portal, a user must sign in using eServices Sign In with multi-factor authentication. You remain in control of what information is shared and when it is shared.

* Guidance on how to use the sharing feature will be published soon.
