Grand Cayman, 19 December 2024 – A golden opportunity for professional growth and community enrichment was realized for Workforce Opportunities & Residency Cayman (WORC) Compliance Officer Jean Solomon as she attended a specialized mediation training held at the Cayman Islands Mediation and Arbitration Centre (CIMAC).
The opportunity arose through an advertisement placed by the Martyn Bould Foundation. The Foundation was providing a chance for Caymanians to participate in the mediation training program which is designed to equip attendees with advanced conflict resolution skills. Through proactive actions, Ms Solomon responded to the advertisement and was chosen to complete the training.
Mediation training is increasingly recognized as a vital tool for fostering effective communication and resolving conflicts in both workplace and community settings. The skills gained through this program are expected to greatly benefit WORC in its mission to support workforce development and strengthen collaboration between employers, employees, and stakeholders.
Mediation enhances investigative interviews by guiding the use of open-ended and probing questions, as well as reframing them to build trust and encourage positive responses. The Martyn Bould Foundation’s sponsorship of Caymanians in such high-caliber programs underscores its commitment to empowering local talent and contributing to the growth of the Cayman Islands’ professional landscape.
Compliance Officer Jean Solomon said, “This was an incredible learning experience, and I am deeply grateful to the Martyn Bould Foundation for this initiative. The training not only enhanced my mediation skills but also provided a unique opportunity to network and collaborate with professionals from across the Cayman Islands.”
She further stated,“ The course surpassed all my expectations!. Led by a team of remarkable experts in the field of mediation, it was very well structured and focused on developing practical skills through resolving real-life cases. I would like to thank WORC’s senior Management including the Training & Development team for their continued support in the pathway of learning and development.”
Compliance Manager Darwin Bodden shared, “Ms Solomon’s accomplishment is a testament to WORC's commitment to continuous professional development and fostering excellence within our team. We are proud of her dedication to advancing her skills and are confident that this training will positively impact both her work and the team’s overall performance.”
The course was conducted between 18th - 24th November 2024 and overall, eighteen (18) participants from diverse professional backgrounds, including attorneys, project managers, finance experts, HR specialists, and leadership executives completed the training.
