The eGovernment Unit, part of the Cayman Islands Government  (“eGov”) respects your privacy and takes care in protecting your personal data. We are a Data Controller and we comply with the Cayman Islands Data Protection Act (2021 Revision) (the “Cayman Islands DPA”, or the “Act”). This Cookie notice (“Cookie Notice”) demonstrates our commitment to ensuring your Personal Data are handled responsibly and applies to eGov websites and portals.  

Our website uses Cookies, in combination with pixels, local storage objects, and similar devices (collectively, "Cookies" unless otherwise noted) to distinguish you from other users of the website.  When you visit eGov websites and portals, we may store small files known as Cookies on your computer, phone, tablet or any other device through your web browser. Information is stored in these text files.  Enabling Cookies may allow for a more tailored browsing experience and is required for certain website functionality. In the majority of cases, a Cookie does not provide us with any of your personal data.

Types of Cookies we use 

  • Strictly necessary Cookies: Always set as active.  These Cookies are required for users to browse our website and use its features and cannot be switched off in our systems. Your consent is not required to place strictly necessary Cookies on your device. These Cookies are usually only set in response to actions made by you, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in, or filling in forms. They let you move around the website and use essential features like secure areas. Without these Cookies, we cannot provide requested services. You can set your browser to block or alert you about these Cookies. However, if you do block them you may not be able to access or use some features and services on our website. 

  • Performance/ Statistical Cookie: Always set as active. These Cookies allow us to count visits, traffic sources (which pages you visited and which links you click on, session length, IP addresses, browser and device information, and demographic data such as estimated age and gender) so we can measure and improve the performance of our website. They help us understand how visitors move around the website and which pages are the most and least popular to visitors. All information collected by these Cookies is aggregated and therefore, anonymous.
