Digital Signatures - My eID
What is a
Digital Signature?
What are the Benefits?
Digital signatures have key advantages:
Environmental Impact:
Reduce your carbon footprint by reducing the need to print, sign, and scan documents.
Efficiency:
Complete agreements, contracts, and transactions swiftly without the delays of handling physical paperwork.
Security:
Advanced encryption and a secure signing process ensure your documents are protected against tampering.
eIDAS Compliance, Global Recognition:
The digital signature capability of My eID is compliant with the EU's eIDAS regulation, which stands for Electronic Identification, Authentication and Trust Services. eIDAS sets the standard for secure and verifiable signatories across Europe, and by adhering to these standards, the digital signatures from My eID are recognized and trusted worldwide.
Legal Framework and Validation:
Under the Cayman Islands Identification Card Act and the Electronic Transactions Act (2003 Revision), digital signatures created using the Cayman Islands Identification Card are legally equivalent to handwritten signatures. This legal framework ensures that documents signed digitally are recognized and legally valid, both locally and internationally. Documents such as PDFs signed with the My eID card carry a digital verification that confirms the signature is valid wherever they are opened globally. This provides certainty and trust in cross-border and local transactions.
